19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former coach Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks the player's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.
Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.
However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.
Moutet defended four early break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
